With our world turned upside down, there has never been more CRAP to shovel. In Shovel It! Kick-Ass Advice To Turn Life’s Crap Into The Peace And Happiness You Deserve, best-selling author Debbie Robins, along with her celebrity friends (Deepak Chopra, Sandra Bernhard, Julia Ormond, Rosanna Arquette, Daniel Powter, among others), share their important life strategies on how to retrieve one’s balance, peace, and happiness when the crap hits the fan. Like the best-selling book Skinny Bitch in the Kitch, Robins charms us with her humor and profound pragmatism. Her theme is a compelling one—that our attention to our “inner ecology” is as critical as our commitment to our outer ecology. Her tips, born out of a dynamic and high-powered life as a Hollywood producer, career coach and corporate consultant, are transformative and certain to enlighten readers.

Debbie Robins is a highly respected corporate, executive and career coach with deep roots in the entertainment industry. Along with her renowned private practice, she is the co-founder of scoreBIG, a consulting firm passionate about innovation. Prior to her consulting work, Debbie was, for over twenty years, an established Hollywood film and television producer. She was President of Roland Joffe's Warner Brothers Company, produced six films, developed many more, and was a Vice-President at Disney.

Changing Your Life

Finding balance in life during these hard economic times is so important and Debbie Robins and friends (Deepak Chopra, Sandra Bernhard, Julia Ormond, Rosanna Arquette, Daniel Powers and others) give us strategies that we can use to bring balance, peace and happiness into our lives. The book is humorous and the idea of paying attention to our inner ecology as well as our outer ecology has something for everyone. We learn to do away with negativity and find a way to happiness and the writing is honest and easy to read. It is so easy to learn something new when it is presented in a clear way and that is just what this book does. In fact I felt like I was actually having a conversation with someone instead of reading a book. All of us have had one of those days when nothing goes right and we just don’t know what to do to turn it all around and make it beneficial. Here it is and it is told to us “right-on” with no nonsense and no frills (aside from humor). Everything about this book is amazing and all of us need to have a copy of it.

Fabulous Advice
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This book is not only packed with fabulous advice, but it is downright funny! I find myself smiling and laughing as Debbie Robins offers up tremendous advice, counsel, perspective and her own dose of humility. I definitely recommend this book. In fact, I bought copies for my friends and family — cause we could all use “some shoveling.” Props to you, Debbie, for not lecturing at us, but instead talking to us from the trenches and providing so many good suggestions. I’ve already highlighted my copy all over and plan to revisit soon.

This is one kick ass book!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is such a wonderful book. You can blast through it in an evening yet the wisdom in it will stay with you as you step in the caca del toro ( for those who do not speak Spanish, del toro means “of the bull” – you figure it out) we all do daily in one way or another. It is filled with totally practical, cut-to-the chase, real-world techniques -all easy to integrate into your everyday life. It is a very humorous, playful read and so personal that you may feel like you have a little Debbie Robins sitting on your shoulder, whispering in your ear, reminding you that you do not have to react the way you always have. You have a choice. Don’t step in it this time. Get out that shovel!

Easy to read with solid advice
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Debbie’s writing is descriptive and lively- she handles a serious subject loaded with explosive emotion with solid wisdom, attainable and usable advice- and she does it with engaging wit and respect for the reader. I rate her crap shoveling techniques high on my scale of most useful things to learn. I especially liked the 14 beliefs section! The book was complete just with that much- the celebrity section was whipped cream topping for me.

This is a great book- don’t miss out on it. Do yourself a favor and buy it for yourself and some friends.

Kick Ass = direct, clear, and powerful!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Read KICK ASS ADVICE and loved it. Debbie Robin’s Kick Ass = direct, clear, and powerful! So easy to read, understand and retain. As a therapist serving a diverse population, I plan to highly recommend this book to all my clients.

Especially related to “freedom from should” and “purpose is your engine.” I am continually working on not “shoulding” on myself, and modeling this for clients. I also believe purpose is a significant piece in healing from almost all pathology. So glad to see these concepts (plus many others) in the written word! It reinforces all that I know thus far in my own journry to be healthy, curative, and wise.

Great job!

Shoveled and Content
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
Never before have I read a book where I feel as though I am not reading, but actually having a genuine, affable, but profound conversation with the author. Debbie Robins challenges the reader to look at their lives earnestly yet affectionately and without judgment. From this place, she manages to effortless remove life blocks, shift stagnant beliefs, and empower the reader with joyful and honest ease. One can spend years reading self-help books where the author feels disconnected and superior, and never feel any better. With Robins, on the other hand, at the end of the first sentence, you welcome her into your living room (or bench or wherever you are reading), and she shares details of her own life creating a unique template for the self-exploration and reflection necessary to truly shovel the crap from off of your own life. Upon completion, you feel wiser, lighter, more vibrant and as though you have made a friend.

READ IT OR WEEP!
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I have always loved learning about myself in clear ways. There is, in my opinion, too much written that is about helping me feel good rather than getting to the bottom of what’s going on so that I can make real change.

Boy does Debbie fill the bill for telling the truth. She offers clear advice that rings true for me in every page. I can tell that Debbie is sharing her personal learning in an authentic way so that I can find my own inner peace. What a gift.
