Dabong Dabong
List Price: $9.99
Sale Price: $7.98

2 - 5 players take turns laying down cards in a central pile. Instead of the basic suits found in a standard deck of cards dabong! uses Earth Wind Water and Fire. The most common way a player lays down a card is by matching the suit or number of the card in the pile to a card in the player's hand. However there are additional options to play the players can play cards of the same suit that add up to the number in the middle. For example if a 10 of Fire is in the central pile a player could play a 2 a 3 and a 5 of Water all at the same time. A player wins when he/she has used all of his/her cards or through a dabong! A dabong occurs when a players cards add up to the central card regardless of suit.

Gamers tend to be polarized into one of two groups: those who like playing casino games on the computer, and those who just don't get any excitement when they aren't playing for real money. Monopoly Casino is a mixed bag of a casino simulation that contains enough good elements to perhaps make those in the latter category rethink their position. As the name implies, this is a casino game with a Monopoly theme, and the bright, clean look of the board game works well for the slot machines, craps tables, roulette wheels, and other casino favorites players can access. The back of the box goes a little overboard when it states there are over 40 games with more than 200 variations. There is variety with some games like poker, which includes several variations of five-card draw, Texas and Omaha hold 'em, and seven-card stud. But "variations" for the slot machines consist only of different betting levels. Regardless, there are a lot of games packed on this CD-ROM, including a fun version of blackjack, pai gow poker, keno boards, 10 video poker machines, and a money wheel in addition to the games we've already mentioned. If the computer opponents aren't challenging enough you can take your bankroll to the Internet by challenging other Monopoly Casino owners online. Poker still isn't as fun when you aren't siting directly across from a living, breathing opponent, but it comes close, and you never have to worry about cheating. The only thing we wished for was more feedback when we won a game of video poker or had a lucky spin of the reels at the slot machines, but that didn't seem to stop us from whiling away many pleasant hours with Monopoly Casino. --T. Byrl Baker Pros: Plenty of games to keep casino fans occupied Tournament mode adds some much-needed tension to the game Monopoly-themed graphics look nice Cons: The card games are fun, but passive games such as the slots and the money wheel just aren't as fun without real money

Get ready for a unique gaming experience offering all the thrills and excitement of Vegas combined with the classic fun of Monopoly. Win big in a fantastic 3-D world featuring all the Monopoly icons you grew up with and all your favorite casino games, including the hottest Monopoly slots available in Las Vegas today.

Follow this first-person role playing game through updated missions and new levels: Thieves Guild--Garrett has heard that the Downwind Thieves Guild has pulled off a daring heist, stealing Lord Randall's sapphire vase. However, they are now squabbling among themselves about how to share the loot. Garrett decides to go in and steal it himself. He intends to break in through a gambling den they operate called the Overlord's Fancy. Mages Guild--In the ruined city, the Keeper Chapel revealed that the Mages Tower was the hiding place for the Talisman of Air. Garrett breaks into the tower to steal it. The talisman is being held in the central tower of the Mages Towers and is secured by spells. To free it, Garret has to get one master Mage from each of the towers to stand on a particular pedestal and touch his ring to a symbol. Garrett must find his way to the central library, unlock its doors with items found in the towers, and then unlock the door to the Talisman Room to get the talisman. Songs of the Caverns--Garrett searches for the Talisman of Water, which is hidden in an underground cavern deep below the city. However, he soon learns that someone else has already stolen it, and his only clues as to who it is come from the ravings of a lunatic hermit.

Demanding a better strategy than "find the biggest weapon and blast everything that moves," Thief Gold relies on stealth, wits, and skill to deliver a totally unique adventure thrill. Though it's modeled on the first-person shooters we all know and love, Thief is more accurately described as a first-person sneaker. You play the role of Garrett, a master thief who becomes entangled in a web of lies, double-crosses, and fanaticism. Each of the game's 12 missions is introduced with a montage of images, accompanied by Garrett's cynical comments. After examining a map and coming up with a general plan of infiltration, you select the special tools of your shadowy trade: a sword, blackjack, rope, magic arrows, and sleeping gas bombs are just a few of the toys at your disposal. In this game, it is generally better to knock an opponent out with a sap than risk a fight, or worse, an alarm, and the items are designed with this strategy in mind. Magic water arrows can be used to extinguish torches, creating pools of concealing shadow. Moss arrows create a blanket of soft fungus to deaden footsteps. This subtle change in available equipment makes all the difference; the shift in character from the marauding death machine of most games to silent burglar heightens game tension and adds a tang of adrenaline. The graphics are dark, bland, and moody--perfect for a game set in a damp medieval metropolis. You'll want to play Thief Gold in a quiet room with the lights out, as the faintest footstep or dimmest torch flicker may be just the clue you need to find your prize and escape with your life. In fact, paying careful attention to your surroundings is crucial to success; by eavesdropping on some guards' conversation, you may learn that a passage is trapped, or the location of a key. Clues like these will enable a well-equipped and cunning thief to slip in and out of a target building without being seen, without bloodshed--and with the goods. --Rob Lightner Pros: Unique, fun game play Brilliant use of graphics and sound to enhance mood Innovative equipment Con: Sometimes foolish AI

Experience is the best teacher. This statement is very true for all blackjack players.

Travel has given me the opportunity to be without TV or computers for long periods of time. Using six or a single deck of cards with the ability to track results with paper and pencil has allowed me to create my own blackjack history.

I used the simple dealer and six players format to simulate actual casino playing conditions. I used 1000 hands as the base number to create my blackjack statistics. If you ignore all of the pushes in my best 1000 hand session I played standard hit up to 17 BJ and won 524 hands and lost 476 hands. In almost all of my other sessions the winning percentage was always below 50 percent. For fun I averaged 10,000 hands and my average was 46.32 percent winning hands.

As a blackjack player you have to know statistically that you will always lose more hands than you win.

I started to look at the patterns of wins and losses to see what actually happened. I put the strings of wins and losses into numbers and percentages. In every 1000 hand session there was always a string of six or more losses in a row. Anyone playing the double till you win - will always lose within 300 hands.

An average 1000 hand session would provide me with the following stats

(Stats for 100% of my wins)

one win in a row 62 percent

two wins in a row 22 percent

three wins in a row 8.9 percent

four wins in a row 3.9 percent

five wins in a row 1.8 percent

six wins in a row less than 1 percent

seven wins in a row less than 1 percent

*********

(Stats for 100% of my losses)

one loss in a row 45 percent

two loss in a row 29 percent

three loss in a row 13 percent

four loss in a row 7 percent

five loss in a row 2.6 percent

six loss in a row 2.3 percent

seven loss in a row 1.1 percent

eight loss in a row less than 1 percent

nine loss in a row less than 1 percent

As a summary one can see that winning at blackjack is extremely difficult.

I had one session that recorded 14 losses in a row. This would have bankrupted any double up player. My playing experience has shown that the double up playing strategy will bankrupt you every 300 hands. Since all casinos have table minimums and maximums they limit the players to double strategies of 4 to 6 hands. Statistics show that the casino will win all the money from double up players eventually.

I now play very modestly on the nickel machines - and have fun without my losses causing any problems.
