Message to Love - The Isle of Wight Festival Message to Love - The Isle of Wight Festival
List Price: $9.98
Sale Price: $4.91
Used From: $3.99

This documentary by Murray Lerner (From Mao to Mozart) was shot in 1970, but for many reasons was not shown to the public until 1995 in Great Britain. In an important way, it is the final chapter in an unofficial trilogy of concert films (along with Woodstock and Gimme Shelter) that together paint a picture of the highest and lowest points of Woodstock Nation politics: from mass goodwill to anarchy to outright stupidity. On the one hand, Message to Love is a rock & roll movie with several performances that are outright revelations (the Who's triumphant show, the Doors' "The End"), some that are awfully good (Jimi Hendrix's "Machine Gun"), and more than enough that are superfluous (Ten Days After, Emerson, Lake, and Palmer, Jethro Tull). On the other hand, Lerner's cameras are trained on the increasingly testy relationship between nomadic hippies who travel a long way to see the show but refuse to pay, and concert producers who resort to using guard dogs, cops, and aluminum walls to keep crashers at a distance. Just how bad does the mood become after several days of this? Check out the scene in which Joni Mitchell breaks down in tears after singing her ode to peace and love, "Woodstock," before this lot. In an era when we've become used to extraordinary security and high ticket prices at rock concerts, it's perhaps hard to grasp what the fuss was about at the Isle of Wight. But Lerner's amazing film helps a viewer get a sense of what was really at stake in that period before rock & roll was a corporate matter, and when kids naively thought it was theirs for the taking. --Tom Keogh

Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan
List Price: $14.99
Sale Price: $8.44
Used From: $8.68

In his opening narration, director Gerald Barclay reveals that he grew up with members of the Wu-Tang Clan. That makes his profile a first-person feature, even if he doesn't turn the camera on himself. As a video producer, Barclay contributed to the hip-hop collective's early success, so he isn't exactly a disinterested observer, which gives him access, but can also result in a limited perspective. Fortunately, he adds enough outside voices to stave off accusations of bias. To set the scene, Barclay takes a brief tour of Staten Island ("Shaolin" in Wu speak) and the martial arts movies that inspired the crew's ideology. Founded in 1991, Wu-Tang formed around Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Method Man, Raekwon the Chef, RZA, GZA, Inspectah Deck, U-God, and OI' Dirty Bastard. As actor/rapper RZA explains, Wu-Tang stands for Wise Universal Truth Allah Now God... though he's open to other interpretations. As writer Margeaux Watson observes, "It is a typical 'Behind the Music' story," and Barclay dutifully tracks their rise, fall, and rebirth by speaking with friends, business associates, disc jockeys, and journalist-turned-A&R rep Bonz Malone, who admits he didn't get them at first. Sadly, the darkest moments revolve around ODB, who went from substance abuse to assault charges to incarceration, and passed away in 2004. Special features include Barclay's "Protect Ya Neck" video and extended interviews with Raekwon and RZA, who relates Wu's solo-career master plan. In addition, the filmmaker discusses the making of the documentary, while ODB's widow, Iceline Jones, remembers her late husband. --Kathleen C. Fennessy

Dan Gable has been called the "Babe Ruth" of wrestling. He won the Olympic Gold Medal in 1972 by not surrendering a point to any of his opponents. This, despite the fact the Soviets came to the Olympics with only one goal in mind, to defeat Gable. Following the Olympics, Gable went on to be the most successful coach in the history of the sport. From the brutal murder of his sister that drove him to win 181 consecutive matches, to the terrorist shaken 1972 Olympics that earned him a Gold Medal, Dan Gable defines a true American Champion. Early footage of Gable's life is combined with a behind the scenes view of his last season as the coach at the University of Iowa. This documentary presents an inside look into the unique culture of wrestling and a rare view of this legendary sports figure.

Almost as welcome as a shaker full of martinis, The Complete Thin Man Collection represents an eagerly awaited DVD milestone for fans of the fizzy MGM movie series. The best film in the series came first: The Thin Man (1934), W.S. Van Dyke's marvelous adaptation of a Dashiell Hammet novel. The movie gods were in a generous mood when they paired William Powell and Myrna Loy as Nick and Nora Charles, the upper-class sophisticates whose sleuthing escapades somehow joined the classic form of the whodunit with the giddyup of screwball comedy. Among the series' many attributes, one of its most radical notions was the idea that a married couple might find each other delightful and view life as a goofy adventure together. It is common wisdom that the Thin Man sequels adhere to the law of diminishing returns, and while none of the follow-ups reach the diamond level of the first film, all afford pleasures. There's the cocktail-swilling chemistry of Powell and Loy, for one thing, as well as the considerable satisfaction of average movies made during the studio system: the craftsmanship of studio hands, and a gallery of terrific character actors filling in supporting roles. First sequel After the Thin Man (1936) is very good, with the couple in San Francisco and a supporting part for rising player James Stewart. The scenery moves again, to Long Island, for the rather impudently-titled Another Thin Man (1939), which adds baby Nick, Jr., to the mix (a "bad idea," thought Pauline Kael, perhaps a sign of the domestication of the series). Shadow of the Thin Man (1941) sets the action around a racetrack, and is the last of the series to be directed by the fast-working Van Dyke. The Thin Man Goes Home (1944) finds Nick escorting family to his parents' house for a visit. Song of the Thin Man (1947) engagingly adds a jazz milieu to the Charles's detective work; at this point, Nick, Jr. was played by child star Dean Stockwell. The series stuck with certain staples: the unveiling of the guilty party, a wirehaired terrier named Asta (who became a star in its own right), and booze. When Nick opines, in the first film, that a dry martini should always be shaken to "waltz time," you know why audiences fell in love with these guilt-free comedies. --Robert Horton

No film better utilizes Audrey Hepburn's flighty charm and svelte beautythan this romantic adaptation of Truman Capote's novella. Hepburn's urban sophisticate Holly Golightly, an enchanting neurotic living off the gifts of gentlemen, is a bewitching figure in designer dresses and costume jewelry. George Peppard is her upstairs neighbor, a struggling writer and "kept" man financed by a steely older woman (Patricia Neal). His growing friendship with the lonely Holly soon turns to love and threatens the delicate balance of both of their compromised lives. Taking liberties with Capote's bittersweet story, director Blake Edwards and screenwriter George Axelrod turn New York into a city of lovers and create a poignant portrait of Holly, a frustrated romantic with a secret past and a hidden vulnerability. Composer Henry Mancini earned Oscars for the hit song "Moon River" and his tastefully romantic score. The only sour note in the whole film is Mickey Rooney's demeaning performance as the apartment's Japanese manager, an offensively overdone stereotype even in 1961. The rest of the film has weathered the decades well. Edwards's elegant yet light touch, Axelrod's generous screenplay, and Hepburn's mix of knowing experience and naiveté combine to create one of the great screen romances and a refined slice of high society bohemian chic. --Sean Axmaker

Noble Lie: A myth or untruth knowingly told by the elite to maintain social harmony, or the social position of the elite. - The Republic, Plato. The 1995 bombing in Oklahoma City was a direct blow to the heart of America. 168 people were killed, including nineteen children. For those watching the nightly news, Terrorism had come home. For years following the bombing, countless victims' family members, survivors, rescuers, and ordinary Americans, have questioned the official accounts about that fateful day. Dante’s Inferno is an epic single player, third-person action adventure game inspired by "Inferno", part one of Dante Alighieri’s classic Italian poem, "The Divine Comedy." Featuring nonstop action rendered at 60 frames-per-second, signature and upgradable weapons, attack combos and mana-fueled spells and the choice of punishing or absolving the souls of defeated enemies, it is a classic Medieval tale of the eternal conflict with sin and the resulting horrors of hell, adapted for a new generation and a new medium. .caption font-family: Verdana, Helvetica neue, Arial, serif; font-size: 10px; font-weight: bold; font-style: italic; ul.indent list-style: inside disc; text-indent: -15px; table.callout font-family: verdana; font-size: 11px; line-height: 1. 3em; td.vgoverview height: 125px; background: #9DC4D8 url(http://images.amazon.com/images/G/01/electronics/detail-page/callout-bg.png) repeat-x; border-left: 1px solid #999999; border-right: 1px solid #999999; padding-left: 20px; padding-right: 20px; padding-bottom: 10px; width: 250px; font-family: verdana; font-size: 12px; Story The Italian mercenary Dante returns home from the bloodletting that was the Third Crusade to two pieces of soul-crushing news. The first is that although he was assured that he was absolved of mortal sins committed in the form of wartime atrocities in the name of the churches interests in the Holy Land, that is not actually the case and his immortal soul is in grave peril. The second and more terrible is that his beloved Beatrice has been murdered, and her soul pulled down into hell by a dark force. Vowing not to accept the damnation of either souls, he gives chase, vows to get Beatrice back and descends into the infamous nine circles of hell. For weapons, he wields Death's soul-reaping scythe, and commands holy powers of the cross, given to him by Beatrice. Go to hell with Dante's Inferno. View larger. Scythe Combat To vanquish the foes you encounter on your journey through the hell of Dante's Inferno, you must learn to wield Death's Scythe with precision and deadly force. Mix light attacks with heavy attacks to create combos, then incorporate jumps and grabs to add another layer to your combat. With dodging and Holy Cross moves thrown into the mix, you can truly become a force to be reckoned with. Without using all of your combative skills and techniques, there is no hope of ever reaching Beatrice. Holy Powers During your journey, you may collect magic abilities for use against the legions of hell. When you perform the Righteous Path power you make a dash attack and leave a trail of icy shards in your wake. With Martyrdom you sacrifice health and mana to deal a heavy amount of damage to surrounding enemies. Divine Armor regenerates your health and protects you from damage. Add these and other powers to your arsenal to vanquish all who stand in your way and when you need to replenish your mana-fueled abilities, visit the Holy Fountains scattered throughout the gameplay area. Creature Taming As powerful as weapons and magic are, sometimes surviving the perils of hell requires brute force. With the power of Death's Scythe, you are able to mount the beasts of hell and use them against your enemies. All of this, however, requires ridding the beast of its current rider first. If successful, you will become the beast’s new master. Now use its awesome power to pulverize enemies and complete tasks that require a beast's strength. Key Game Features Epic story adapted from the first book of the Medieval Italian classic The Divine Comedy, by Dante Alighieri. Nonstop action as you fight through Dante's allegorical nine circles of hell. Wield the power of Death's soul-reaping scythe. Beautiful fast-paced action and intense combat rendered at 60 frames-per-second. Choice-based finishes with enemies that allow players to punish the damned, or absolve them as they are defeated. Over 60 weapons, magic and combo upgrades and modifications. Huge destructive, ridable mounts that can be taken from defeated enemies. Additional Screenshots: Experience the 9 circles of hell. Wild Swans : Three Daughters of China Wild Swans : Three Daughters of China
List Price: $16.99
Sale Price: $9.00
Used From: $1.26

In Wild Swans Jung Chang recounts the evocative, unsettling, and insistently gripping story of how three generations of women in her family fared in the political maelstrom of China during the 20th century. Chang's grandmother was a warlord's concubine. Her gently raised mother struggled with hardships in the early days of Mao's revolution and rose, like her husband, to a prominent position in the Communist Party before being denounced during the Cultural Revolution. Chang herself marched, worked, and breathed for Mao until doubt crept in over the excesses of his policies and purges. Born just a few decades apart, their lives overlap with the end of the warlords' regime and overthrow of the Japanese occupation, violent struggles between the Kuomintang and the Communists to carve up China, and, most poignant for the author, the vicious cycle of purges orchestrated by Chairman Mao that discredited and crushed millions of people, including her parents.

Blending the intimacy of memoir and the panoramic sweep of eyewitness history, Wild Swans has become a bestselling classic in thirty languages, with more than ten million copies sold. The story of three generations in twentieth-century China, it is an engrossing record of Mao's impact on China, an unusual window on the female experience in the modern world, and an inspiring tale of courage and love. Jung Chang describes the life of her grandmother, a warlord's concubine; her mother's struggles as a young idealistic Communist; and her parents' experience as members of the Communist elite and their ordeal during the Cultural Revolution. Chang was a Red Guard briefly at the age of fourteen, then worked as a peasant, a "barefoot doctor," a steelworker, and an electrician. As the story of each generation unfolds, Chang captures in gripping, moving -- and ultimately uplifting -- detail the cycles of violent drama visited on her own family and millions of others caught in the whirlwind of history.

DMT: The Spirit Molecule: A Doctor's Revolutionary Research into the Biology of Near-Death and Mystical Experiences DMT: The Spirit Molecule: A Doctor's Revolutionary Research into the Biology of Near-Death and Mystical Experiences

A clinical psychiatrist explores the effects of DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. • A behind-the-scenes look at the cutting edge of psychedelic research. • Provides a unique scientific explanation for the phenomenon of alien abduction experiences. From 1990 to 1995 Dr. Rick Strassman conducted U.S. Government-approved and funded clinical research at the University of New Mexico in which he injected sixty volunteers with DMT, one of the most powerful psychedelics known. His detailed account of those sessions is an extraordinarily riveting inquiry into the nature of the human mind and the therapeutic potential of psychedelics. DMT, a plant-derived chemical found in the psychedelic Amazon brew, ayahuasca, is also manufactured by the human brain. In Strassman's volunteers, it consistently produced near-death and mystical experiences. Many reported convincing encounters with intelligent nonhuman presences, aliens, angels, and spirits. Nearly all felt that the sessions were among the most profound experiences of their lives. Strassman's research connects DMT with the pineal gland, considered by Hindus to be the site of the seventh chakra and by Rene Descartes to be the seat of the soul. DMT: The Spirit Molecule makes the bold case that DMT, naturally released by the pineal gland, facilitates the soul's movement in and out of the body and is an integral part of the birth and death experiences, as well as the highest states of meditation and even sexual transcendence. Strassman also believes that "alien abduction experiences" are brought on by accidental releases of DMT. If used wisely, DMT could trigger a period of remarkable progress in the scientific exploration of the most mystical regions of the human mind and soul.

People can now watch satellite TV on PC online without viewing restrictions. A few years back then, we were still watching satellite TV on our TV sets right there in our sofas in the living room. It was quite a common sight in many American families. However, today, the whole scene has changed and you can now watch satellite TV on PC using a modem connection. Issue is do you need to set up your computer such that you can watch satellite TV on PC online without viewing restrictions?

Talking about satellite TV on PC online, you may have heard that nowadays, there are several satellite TV stations that are streaming video over the internet for public viewing. Here are a few specific TV channels that provide internet satellite TV so that you can watch satellite TV on PC online conveniently. Just visit the websites and choose the program to watch.

1. Wfitv.com

This website is where you can watch satellite TV on PC for free. It is one of the bigger online streaming video website that has recorded and LIVE television channels from around the world. The website interface is pretty simple to handle.

2. Channelchooser.com

This website gives you programs like documentaries, music videos, other entertaining videos and online news channels so that you can sit back relax and watch satellite TV on PC online. The interface looks more professional than most video streaming sites you come across online.

3. BeeLineTV.com

This is rumoured to be one of the earliest internet TV channels. Till date, it is still offering free TV channels. Anyone who wants to watch satellite TV on PC online can check out this site for the latest offerings.

The clear advantage anyone who wants to watch satellite TV on PC online gets is of course the free TV channels offered online as mentioned. However, you need to make sure that you have a quality broadband internet connection so that the streaming is uninterrupted. Of course, another major benefit is you are not tied to any monthly subscription plans with the satellite TV service providers. Anyone can watch satellite TV on PC online for free legally when you visit these resources.

Unfortunately, this way to watch satellite TV on PC is not perfect. For instance, the website could be down when the server is overloaded by too many viewers visiting the site simultaneously. Another negative point is that your channel selection can be limited.

These could be the reason why PC satellite TV software is birthed. Using a nifty and neat software application, you can set up your PC instantly to watch satellite TV on PC. Once again, you need a good internet connection. You may not need broadband as dial-up works fine as well. However, my advice is stick with broadband to quicken the transmission of TV feeds for excellent picture and sound quality without any relay.

With this tool, you get to watch satellite TV on PC in minutes and not only so, you have a choice of more than 2000 TV channels from worldwide TV stations. From TV drama series to world news, you can find almost any channel no matter what your taste is like.

Pssst...! Wanna know a secret?

How about the secret of making odds only bets?

As you probably know, the best bet on the craps table is, of course, the unadvertised free odds bet. This is the only bet that provides the house with absolutely no commission or vig, but you usually have to make a pass/donÂ’t pass or come/donÂ’t come bet to take advantage of it.

The pass or come betÂ’s odds advantage is diluted after the come-out, so the advantage then swings over to the donÂ’t player. You should concentrate on these donÂ’t-come and donÂ’t-pass bets rather than on pass or come bets. YouÂ’ll find that by using these methods the payoff is significantly higher than making lay bets, and youÂ’ll get to meet a lot of people and have a lot of fun!

Wanna know the secret that craps pros use to make odds only bets?

Let's find out!

Many casinos offer 5X odds (or higher) on their tables, but many people do not have the bankroll to take advantage of these higher odds. YouÂ’ll probably see people placing a donÂ’t pass bet for $5 and then taking $10 odds, instead of the maximum odds that they are allowed.

Your job, then, is to befriend these people and talk them into letting you add your odds to their bet. It isnÂ’t as hard as it seems and, if you befriend just one person at one table, you could end up with many donÂ’t pass or donÂ’t come zero-vig bets.

These added-odds bets are your very best bets, because your new friend will take the come-out 7/11 risk for you, for both the donÂ’t pass and donÂ’t come bets. After the come-out, any number is in your favor and, if you win, your new friend will win his (or her) bet too!

Remember, though, that on the donÂ’t-side, the allowed odds are calculated on the winnings, not the bet. For a $5 flat bet on a four or ten (on a 5X table), you can lay up to $50 in odds, which pays off up to $25 (at 1:2 odds).

With the same $5 bet at a 10X table (with the four or ten), you can lay up to $100 in odds, which pays off at $50 (which is 10 X $5). If the point is 5 or 9 you can lay up to $75 in odds which pays off (at 2:3 odds) at $50 (also 10 x $5).

For example, say your new friend has a donÂ’t come bet for $5 which makes it past the come out and moves to the four. He takes 2X odds ($20) on it, so he will win $10 (plus his flat bet) if the seven shows before the four. You can add $80 of your odds to his bet (on a 10X table) and win an easy $40 if the seven rolls.

The donÂ’t pass works in the same way. If your new friend bets $5 donÂ’t pass and a point is established (say it is 9 this time) he might lay $15 in odds behind his flat bet. You can then lay an additional $60 (on a 10X table) and win $40 when Big Red shows.

Betting on odds only in this fashion is easy, profitable, and friend-building as well! Give it a try the next time you play!

Pssst...! Now you know the secret of making odds only bets!
