Bad Boys II (Two-Disc Special Edition) Bad Boys II (Two-Disc Special Edition)
List Price: $14.94
Sale Price: $2.95
Used From: $0.01

No one goes to a movie directed by Michael Bay for delicacy and grace; you go because Michael Bay (Armageddon, The Rock) knows how to make your bones rattle during a high-speed chase when a car flips over, spins through the air, and smacks another car with a visceral crunch. Bad Boys II fulfills this expectation and then some. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence may be mere puppets amid all this burning rubber and shrieking metal, but they actually provide a human core to the endless cascade of car wrecks and gunfights. Their easy rapport makes their personal problems--a running joke is Lawrence's attempts at anger management--as engaging as the sheer visual hullabaloo of bullets and explosions. The plot is recycled nonsense about drug lords and dead bodies being used to smuggle drugs, but orchestration of violence is symphonic. If that's your thing, then this is for you. --Bret Fetzer

Hang on for maximum mayhem full-on fun and the wildest chase scenes ever put on film! The action and comedy never stop when superstars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith reunite as out-of-control trash-talking buddy cops. Bullets fly cars crash and laughs explode as they pursue a whacked-out drug lord from the streets of Miami to the barrios of Cuba. But the real fireworks result when Lawrence discovers that playboy Smith is secretly romancing his sexy sister Gabrielle Union (Bring it On). Director Michael Bay (Pearl Harbor Armageddon) and producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pirates of the Caribbean Black Hawk Down) deliver a high-speed high-octane blockbuster that will blow you away! "...Year's most action-packed and high-flying flick." Crash (Widescreen Edition) Crash (Widescreen Edition)
List Price: $9.98
Sale Price: $2.70
Used From: $0.01

Movie studios, by and large, avoid controversial subjects like race the way you might avoid a hive of angry bees. So it's remarkable that Crash even got made; that it's a rich, intelligent, and moving exploration of the interlocking lives of a dozen Los Angeles residents--black, white, latino, Asian, and Persian--is downright amazing. A politically nervous district attorney (Brendan Fraser) and his high-strung wife (Sandra Bullock, biting into a welcome change of pace from Miss Congeniality) get car-jacked by an oddly sociological pair of young black men (Larenz Tate and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges); a rich black T.V. director (Terrence Howard) and his wife (Thandie Newton) get pulled over by a white racist cop (Matt Dillon) and his reluctant partner (Ryan Phillipe); a detective (Don Cheadle) and his Latina partner and lover (Jennifer Esposito) investigate a white cop who shot a black cop--these are only three of the interlocking stories that reach up and down class lines. Writer/director Paul Haggis (who wrote the screenplay for Million Dollar Baby) spins every character in unpredictable directions, refusing to let anyone sink into a stereotype. The cast--ranging from the famous names above to lesser-known but just as capable actors like Michael Pena (Buffalo Soldiers) and Loretta Devine (Woman Thou Art Loosed)--meets the strong script head-on, delivering galvanizing performances in short vignettes, brief glimpses that build with gut-wrenching force. This sort of multi-character mosaic is hard to pull off; Crash rivals such classics as Nashville and Short Cuts. A knockout. --Bret Fetzer Stills from Crash (click for larger image)

This compelling urban thriller tracks the volatile intersection of a multiethnic cast of characters struggling to overcome their fears as they careen in and out of one another's lives. Identity Identity
List Price: $14.99
Sale Price: $4.28
Used From: $0.68

With an ace up its sleeve, Identity does for schizophrenia what The Silence of the Lambs did for fava beans and a nice chianti. On the proverbial dark and stormy night, this anxiety-laced thriller offers a tasty blend of And Then There Were None and Psycho, with a dash of Sybil for extra spice and psychosis. Things go from bad to worse when 10 unrelated travelers converge at an isolated motel and proceed to die, one by one, with no apparent connection... until they discover the common detail that's drawn them into this nightmare of relentless trauma. Even as it flunks Abnormal Psychology 101, Michael Cooney's screenplay offers meaty material for a superior ensemble cast including John Cusack and Rebecca DeMornay (who wins the Janet Leigh prize in a bitchy comeback role). Director James Mangold pivots the action around one character (played by his Heavy star, Pruitt Taylor Vince, in eye-twitching cuckoo mode), and half the fun of Identity comes from deciphering who's who, what's what, and who'll be the next to die. --Jeff Shannon

James Mangold's intricately structured nod to "And Then There Were None" centers on a seemingly disparate group of travelers thrown together at a run-down motel during a brutal storm. As the reluctant guests wait for the roads to reopen, someone begins picking them off one by one, leaving ex-cop John Cusack and corrections officer Ray Liotta to find the killer before he can strike again. Co-stars John C. McGinley, Alfred Molina, Rebecca De Mornay. 90 min. Standard and Widescreen; Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English, French.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ( DVD-ROM ) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas ( DVD-ROM )
List Price: $49.99
Sale Price: $5.85
Used From: $5.95

It may not be a splashy leap forward, but Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas in its own deep, dark way does just as much to move and revolutionize video games as its two predecessors, Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. As in previous installments, here you play as a thug with problems you must steal and shoot your way out of, but the problems this time are disconcertingly more realistic. You play as Carl Johnson, known on the street as CJ, a likeable criminal type who has just returned to his hometown, Los Santos (a fictionalized Los Angeles), to find that his mother has been murdered and that the police have framed him for another murder. Reunions with his friends and a troubled relationship with his brother set off a sprawling, complex plot line, taking place at first in the immediate Los Santos area but eventually spilling into San Fierro (based on San Francisco) and Las Venturas (Las Vegas). You play as Carl Johnson, known on the street as CJ. This is an honest effort to create an engaging story about sympathetic characters caught up in a brutal environment that is on par with a movie or novel. Gaming Gangsters Where Vice City took its cues, with tongue firmly in cheek, from the 1980s television series Miami Vice, San Andreas is a sincere homage to early 1990s innercity gangster films like Menace 2 Society and Boyz `N the Hood. This is an honest effort to create an engaging story about sympathetic characters caught up in a brutal environment that is on par with a movie or novel. If that effort hits a few flat notes (you would have to be totally desensitized not to wonder if it's OK to make entertainment out of driveby shootings), it may also mark the first step toward video games growing up. The first thing that fans of earlier GTA games will notice is the range of action is much wider now: Along with shooting, running, and driving, there's now swimming, eating, working out, shopping, and, yes, getting a haircut. All this means the game has a fairly steep learning curve. But, though the pick-up-and-play appeal of Grand Theft Auto III may be long gone, your access to the action becomes fairly transparent after a little practice. My only serious complaint is that, with the controller now crowded with such previously unheard-of functions like "Gang Active" and "Talk Positive," you can drive only with the left analog stick. A minor point, but it makes cars a lot more difficult to handle. Bicycles take on a surprisingly central role. Vehicular Variety It would be hard to surpass the variety of automobiles available in earlier games, and San Andreas wisely does not for the most part try to compete on that score. Instead, it's bicycles of all things that steal the show. The bikes' speed and flexibility are perfect for many of the missions, and there is something about cruising through the streets and basketball courts on a BMX that just feels right. If you play far enough into the game, you will also be rewarded with the chance to fly a number of aircraft, and flying is something Rockstar makes a greater effort to get right this time (welcome news for anyone who struggled with the planes and `copters of the earlier games). Lackluster Graphics--but a Real Feel Graphics--never a huge priority for Rockstar--actually take a step backward from the luscious, tropical look of Vice City. Textures are rendered with only a cursory attention to detail, and contours are often blocky. It scarcely matters, though, because no matter how San Andreas looks, it feels real. This is due in no small part to voice work by an all-star cast including Samuel L. Jackson, Ice T, James Woods, Peter Fonda, and Outkast's Big Boy and a stellar soundtrack with tunes by Soundgarden, 2Pac, Public Enemy, and even a few country classics from the likes of Willie Nelson. But it's not just realistic, San Andreas is also vast, encompassing three big urban centers and huge swaths of rural land (complete with shotgun-toting farmers) between them. This vastness does mean, however, that there can be a lot of tedious driving to get to the missions, which, along with some awkward sequencing of the cut scenes (they are in places stacked one on top of the other), means that there is a bit too much downtime. But never mind the quibbles. Ladies and gentlemen, we have another classic on our hands. --David Stoesz Pros: Astonishingly vast game space Vivid character development Complex, engaging plot Enormous range of available actions Cons: Occasionally awkward game design You can no longer steer cars with the directional buttons Steep learning curve What's Your Strategy?

How to kill somebody with your car in several easy steps: One, use a mobile phone whilst youÂ’re driving. This will help to distract you from the important thing which is driving safely on the road. You will quickly be able to lose control of the car and plow into nearby pedestrians.

Two, listen to loud music whilst driving -- while doing this not only will you be thinking about words and the musical structure of the tunes that you are hearing but also you can add to the excitement and distraction by banging your head up and down to heavy metal music.

Three, have a bag of sweets on the passenger seat and occasionally reach across whilst taking your eyes from the road in order to grab another sweet and a quick fix of glucose. Using sweets with wrappers enables you to increase your chances of road death by periodically looking down from the road ahead of you to your lap whilst you unwrap each sweet in turn. This trick can be further enhanced by taking both hands off the wheel in order to unwrap a sweet.

Four, have a child or two in the back of the car. As a doting parent [or if youÂ’re not a parent, you can steal someone elseÂ’s child for the duration of your journey] it is your prerogative to turn around to wink at your child, smile, and even sing short lullabies or recite special nursery rhymes.

Five, have an argument with somebody in the passenger seat. This works best if it is a spouse or “significant other.” Arguments with these people tend to be quite vociferous and prolonged. The best way to kill somebody is to look across at the passenger seat when you are arguing, stare the person in the face -- even try to outstare them for as long as possible -- and try to intimidate the person as much as possible.

Six, try to stay awake as long as possible. Particularly on long journeys it helps in your fatal driving endeavors to keep your eyes open as long as possible. Service areas are expensive anyway, so you donÂ’t want to stop there and it is important for you to cut down your journey time by 30 minutes or more where possible.

Try to play the game whereby you can stay awake through the whole journey even if it is a very long one. After all, you can always rest when you get to your destination -- thatÂ’s if you get there in one piece in the first place. This particular trick is always more exciting when you have people in the car that are urging you to stop. It is always rewarding when you try to thwart other peopleÂ’s advice.

A great place to shop for samsung blackjack review smartphone products is Amazon. They have more than just books!

As soon as my friends saw my Samsung Epix, the said "Oh you've got the Blackjack III". I did a double-take and a hard look at my mobile. They laughed - "That's its nickname because it looks just like a Blackjack!". How was I to know? Anyway, my Epix is silver-grey and I am feeling quite smug about its great looks.

The Epix has loads of battery life - 1800 mAh - it hasn't run out on me once and I only need to recharge after five days!

There are two annoyances. One is that my Epix rings in a loudly increasing manner no matter how I set it. The other is that if it's on standby and an email comes through, the light flashes but no sound alerts me.

My Epix has a responsive touchscreen and sports a professional version of platform, meaning that I have a larger software package. Extras: TextMaker, instant weather map, WikiMobile - Wikipedia interface. Handy.

I don't have the privilege on my Epix of holding in my keys until they change characters, therefore I do need to to use the Function key.

My Epix keyboard has a five-way direction control, strangely different to others I've used. With this one, you slide your fingers over the sensor, no clicks. I can use it as a virtual mouse. But even easier, I just tap the screen for menu options.

I have wireless connectivity and a quad-band GSM meaning I am able to connect to anything rapidly. My Epix radio has the best reception ever and works from within my home with ease from a satellite tower many kilometres away.

The GPS is great for using in combination with Google Maps and it works rapidly even from remote places where you'd expect connection to be lost.

This phone's a keeper for my pocket-range.
